What is Christian Business Coaching?

This is where a coach works with a business individual or company to help them focus on priorities, set up mission and vision statements, plan differently or better, alleviate places where persons are stuck, and do this in a way that promotes the individual’s and the company’s growth so they can reach their desired outcomes. This is to be done using Christian Business Principles.

What difference will this make in my/our moving to the next level of achievement?

That depends a lot on the motivation of the person(s) seeking the coaching. If you are highly motivated to make significant changes, then you should see progress begin almost immediately. The difference is usually in the ability to focus, change attitudes about yourself, others or your company. It is getting a different perspective that can make the greatest change. One of my goals is to help you clear the clutter from your life. As you clear clutter from your life you will see more directly what your goals can and should be. Don’t swamp your life with clutter. We sometimes call this a “core dump.”

What do we do when we get together in a coaching session?

To begin with we usually meet on a weekly basis or every other weekly basis in order to establish some goals. During the initial sessions we will focus on getting to know each other and the strengths and weaknesses of the individual and what they want to improve most in their life. When these goals are established we will begin to work more specifically on what is blocking those goals and what are some new perspectives that will lead to something different in your business. It is developing an action plan that is concrete and specific that makes the difference. During each week's sessions we will try to come up with some specific actions that you need to take for improvement this coming week.

Why should I be working with a coach now?

This is determined by you . When you get to the point where you realize you are not improving, growing, working out relationships as you should, not feeling focused, or other specific areas giving your personal pain, then this is the time to begin the coaching process. Perhaps you didn't get the last raise, feel like you've been overlooked at work, have tried new things but they don't seem to be working, feeling a sense of loss or grief either when you move up or are demoted in your company, and become aware of their effects on you, we will begin the coaching process. I have some specific questions on my website or material that I will send you that will help you identify what to work on.

What is the role of coaching in a Christian business?

Every Christian businessman or woman wants to have God be the center of their life and their business. When Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount “ seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you ” He was helping us identify this significant principle to be used in a business as well as a personal life. This is a defining principle for the Christian coaching than I do. All the rest of our activities will begin to have a clearer focus once we get this relationship straight. So my coaching is to help keep focused on the mission and vision which we believe comes from our prayer to our Heavenly Father and as we experience them in Jesus Christ. If you have not already done so you might began writing out how you could began with this principle in your own personal life and in your business life as a Christian.

Are there specific areas on which we focus in the coaching process?

Yes. We will focus on the areas that are the greatest interest and need for you. As a coach it is my duty to ask lots of questions, help move the process along, and to seek actions that will accomplish the specific goals that we have set out. Perhaps you want to work on your ability for relationships and some problem area you have at the moment. There is information in the material on how to do this and it is done from a Christian perspective. I believe that there is a process that will help you grow as we work to help you stay focused during our coaching time. You are in charge of letting me know what the specific areas are in which you need to grow.

Why are so many people using coaching these days?

More and more people in all industries are saying they need to have someone assist them in developing to a “next level.” This is true of people like Tiger Woods, presidents of large corporations, small business owners, Christian entrepreneurs, and a multitude of other people both in and out of the Christian world. One of the main reasons for utilization of coaching is because it focuses on the present and the future as opposed to the past. It also focuses on specific goals and roles to be accomplished. More and more people in the Christian world are using this resource that God has given us.

How much does coaching cost?

There is a fee structure for a 45 minute session of coaching. I will be glad to discuss this with you personally when you make contact. One person when asked how much coaching cost said “in most cases – nothing!” His point was that good coaching should so increase your capacities that you will produce far more than the dollars coaching would cost. The principle you learn should last you for years and therefore be cost effective.

Is the coaching done in person?

There are three ways that coaching can be done. First, we can meet in person either at my office or at the coachees office (drive time applies for the fee). These are 45 minute sessions. Second, we can do sessions on the telephone by setting an appointment time. And third, I do webcam sessions over the internet using Skype software (this can be downloaded for free) where both parties have webcams. I am set up to do this now.
